In search for new Alkalo in Latrikunda Yiringana, the residents have been given rights to decide the community’s ‘alkalo’ following failed mediation talks spearheaded by the Kanifing municipality.

This comes as row for the throne of the community head started again after eight months of the demised of Alhagie Amadou Faal, as Pa Omar Faal and Suwaibu Faal are both claiming of being the right person to succeed the late Faal.

Speaking to journalists after failing to reach accord on the matter, Kanifing Municipality’s chief mediator and director of compliance, Dembo Sanneh said: “Well, the outcome of the meeting is that both parties were given full privileges to go and sit in camera and discuss how to let go for one or another. But unfortunately, none of them wanted to give chance to the other one.”

“Now our decision/discussion is to give each one of them a form to be endorsed by the community of Latrikunda. Whoever emerge winner from the number of yard owners will be available to come, is not an election but it should be endorsed by yard owners,” he added.

The results are expected this week, he added.
