56 lady councillors trained on gender-based violence

Fifty-six lady councillors have been trained on gender-based violence and survivor centred to help them to improve the understanding of lady councillors on GBV, Child Marriage and Sexual Abuse and the pathways to reporting thereby enhancing their lives and livelihoods.

The training was organised by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare with funding from UNFPA who said: “And as Violence against women is the product of learned attitudes and norms, Domestic violence can be ended by eliminating gender stereotypes and promoting a culture of respect and equality in families and societies.”

The trainees were drawn from the six regions and municipalities across the country
