The Chairman of the Chinese-Gambian Based company called Zhuhai and Macau Tsinghua Redbud Union, Mr. Ma Chi Chung and his partner, Mr. Tam Wai Kit the Special Envoy of The Gambia to China for Investment gave 5,000 disposable facemasks to MoBSE.
The items were presented to MoBSE officials on behalf of Mr. Ma Chi Chung and Mr. Tam Wai Kit by the company’s local partners, Mr. James Wu and Basadie Jabbie at a ceremony held at the Ministry’s main conference room in Banjul on Monday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Basadie Jabbie expressed his delight for their intervention which he said comes at a time when the sector is really in need. He added that the purpose of the donation is to make sure students and teachers are not contaminated with Coronavirus.
“The welfare of students and teachers are our concern this is why we are here to present these 5,000 facemasks to you (MoBSE). Let me inform you that Mr. Ma Chi Chung and partners are sponsoring some students at Alex Lower Basic School in Bakoteh and our aim is to give support to other schools throughout the country,” Jabbie informed.
According to Mr. Jabbie, they knew that there is no better institution to offer assistance at this time with PPE than the MoBSE. We value your efforts and concern which the Ministry has for the future leaders of this country.
DPS for Programs and DPS for Administration and Finance at MoBSE, Adama Jimba Jobe and Jerre Sanyang respectively described the wonderful gesture from Mr. Ma Chi Chung and his partners as worthy of commendation.
The duo explained to donors that the students they offered help may produce the future Presidents, Managers, Directors, ambassadors to China, and good leaders in the country among others.
“Your donation registered huge success and we value your gesture. Our ministry is the biggest government ministry and we value anything that comes on our way,” DPS Jobe and DPS Sanyang stated.
The Permanent Secretary at MoBSE, Louise Moses Mendy witnessed the presentation ceremony.
