It was a moment of joy as residents of Latriya village was blessed with a new mosque, Arabic School and portable drinking well all worth of D1million fully funded by Al-Nour Foundation for Education and Charitable in The Gambia- West Africa.
The school is spacious and could accommodate at least 200 students.
The inauguration ceremony brought together hundredths of people from all walks of life from Latriya and its surrounding communities including Islamic scholars, students and community leaders.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Friday as he delivered his sermon, top scholar and former State House Imam, Abdallah Fatty who also gave the land where the mosque and Arabic school were built said the buildings will help in proliferation of Islam within the society.
In his sermon, he thanked Almighty Allah the Supreme and only Creator of mankind and entire universe for giving him the strength to constructed and inaugurated the mosque.
Emulating Prophet Muhammed’s [Peace and Bless Be Upon Him] during his sermon, Imam Fatty sought for Allah’s protection against all forms of evil actions.
Giving a brief history of mankind, he said: “The entire human race emanated from Prophet Adama and Awa [peace be upon them]. Therefore, we are all from the same mother and father. We are all one and the same. And there should be no segregation among the human race.”
He said logically there must be differences among the masses because people’ affairs and activities are not the same but Muslims should not be divided as there is only one Islamic religion globally.
“All of us should follow Prophet Muhammed [Peace and Bless of Allah Be upon Him],” he preached.
He ended his sermon by urging all to speak the truth and nurture social cohesion as instructed by Prophet Muhammed and also always avoid uttering words that would lead to disunity in the society.
He said the mosque will help to further reinforce Islam in the country.“We brought this mosque here for prayers and having Arabic Classes. We also want to develop this place to Arabic primary, junior, and senior schools with the help of God,” he said while called for support to attain the dreams.
He therefore prayed to God to bestow his blessing on all who contributed to the construction of the new edifice mosque.
Representing the Imam of Latriya village, Samba Bah expressed delight about Imam Abdallah Fatty and his followers for bringing the mosque to the doorstep of Latriya residents saying the whole neighborhood is happy for the new development in the village.
“Construction of the mosque and Arabic Class is a key development for the community. This is a great achievement for us,” he said.
Moving forward, Bah appealed to the residents to pray in the mosque regularly.
Ebrima Darboe, village head embraces the idea as well welcomed Imam Fatty and his followers in his village.
He described the development as a step in the right direction that will enhance Islam in the community.
“All residents of this community are one and the same. And all are happy about this new edifice mosque. We have other mosques and anyone can pray in any of them. We are one and the same,” he added.
Dr. Mbaye Kebba Kah from MadinaSerign Mass described the construction of the mosque as new development for all Latriya residents and surroundings.
He said mosque is the best place in any community; therefore, he appealed to the residents to regularly pray and recite the Holy Quran in it.
