Refela Gambia chapter, a non-political international group, held its second regional meeting in the West Coast Region to elect the region’s co-opted executive members, held in Briakama, West Coast Region.
The event was held under the theme ‘to empower women and children who are loitering in the street to become useful in the future’.
Speaking at the event in Briakama over the weekend, Mayor Marlick Lowe, president of Gambia National Chapter said: “Rafela is a non-political partisan platform meaning a platform for every woman. It is a network for women where we can sit to talk about our problems especially economic, political and other problems.
She added: “Rafela was at Morocco and it was inaugurated last year in The Gambia 5th of October and she happen to be the President and the most senior locally elected. If at all our husbands and our brothers did not give us the opportunity we will not be here and that Rafela must have an executive in order on the 12 of December to be submitted to UCG.”
She continued: “Rafela is not here to tribalize rather it came to end the nightmares of the women Rafela has been in existence for fifteen years and last year we launched it in The Gambia.”
Am not here to respond to allegations but as I said it again Rafela is not for politics everyone knows that I am dead UDP but we are not here for that, she said.

‘’We need to be part of the executive in offices and parliament, we deserve to be there’’
However Kaddy Faal Bojang , Bakary Touray who is representing the University of The Gambia, Abbie Bangura executive member of Rafela also all made a remarks including Sukai Sanyang who benefited a lot through Rafela.
