Four Covid-19 patients escaped to Senegal

Four coronavirus positive patients have escaped to Senegal before they were to be moved to treatment centres, the nation’s health ministry has said in a statement.

Their escape comes as a 66-year-old man who was receiving treatment at the Medical Research Council in Bakau died of coronavirus.

“4 of the newly confirmed cases absconded to Senegal prior to being moved to the treatment centres. 193 new laboratory test results received (32 from MRC and from 161 from NPHL) o No new test returned indeterminate / inconclusive,” the ministry of health said.

However, the ministry of health added that a 66-year-old man has died of coronavirus after spending days in treatment at the Medical Research Council in Bakau.

The new decedent was a 66-year-old male who was admitted in the ‘Confirmed Covid 19 Bay’ of MRC a couple of days prior to his demise and was on oxygen support o He also had a serious comorbid condition

The ministry however added: “1 COVID-19 patient newly recovered and got discharged. The country currently has no person in quarantine, 17 active cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.3%.”
