The Minister of Tourism and Culture accompanied by high ranking officials of from his Ministry and its satellite institutions Sunday visited the ongoing construction of tourism infrastructural projects across the country.
On his ongoing winter tourism 2020 tourism facilities tour, the projects visited by Honorable Hamat NK Bah include DK Jawara Resort – Barra, North Bank Region, Kunkiling Forest Eco Lodge – Central River Region, Sotuma Eco Lodge – Sotuma Samba Koi, Upper River Region and also Kerr Batch Stones Circle in Nianija currently under rehabilitation.
The Minister’s annual tourism facilities tour is meant to assess the state of progress and standard in all tourism, culture, hospital and allied. The tour, also will help to channel way for the development of tourism and culture across the destination get more information on the impact of Covid-19 as it affected the sector and stakeholders.
The foundation stone of the DK Jawara Resort, Barra was laid 25th May, while the foundation stones for Kunkiling Forest Eco Lodge – Central River Region, Sotuma Eco Lodge – Sotuma Samba Koi, Upper River Region were laid on 19th and 20th June, 2020 respectively.
Commenting on progress of the projects, the Minister expressed satisfaction and disclosed that the work was slowdown by the unprecedented rainfall in the country “which has caused a challenge for them at beginning of the work. This is because the rain makes access to the construction sites for the projects not easy to access.”
With what on the ground at the different sites of the project he said within next three weeks the contractor will make a huge different “and with believe, I know the contractor will be able to deliver before the estimated time.
