Gambian Actress Nominated For Hollywood International Film Award

Gambia’s young talented Actress, Ms Mariama Colley, has been nominated for the US Hollywood International Golden Film Awards 2020.

The Brikama born actress is nominated for her lead role in a short film called MÈBÈT in 2019. She has been selected under the category for Outstanding Up and Comer Actress 2020.

“Today, I am so excited to announce that I’ve been nominated for the US Hollywood International Golden Film Awards 2020,” Ms Colley wrote on her page.
The young actress is the founder of Studio 411 Production. She is a radio personality, gender right actvist, stage and film actress whose passion is rooted in utilizing art as a platform to effect change within her community.

Mariama uses her radio platform to host mentorship show for young people on pertinent societal issues affecting their society.

In 2013, Mariama was nominated for the African Oscar Awards. She was recently awarded National Certificate of Merit as ‘Youth of The Month’ by the Ministry of Youths and Sports in collaboration with the Balance Group, for her contribution to national development.

Mebet tells the story of one girl’s attempt to turn the tragedies of the past into lessons for the future. It is a conversation across generations to deliver positive change. The film showcases aspects of African culture to counter the negative narratives about the continent, and portray the reality of our journeys through stories of resilience and hope.

Meanwhile, the US Hollywood Int’l Golden Film Awards is a festival that showcase feature & shorts films from around the world as well as providing a amazing Int’l distribution platform for up and coming filmmakers in independent feature films.
