Njie Cham, Proprietor of Kunta Kinteh Roots Camp situated at Juffureh has reacted to false news trending on both on-line and off-line newspapers that the camp has been closed by Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hamat N.K Bah.
According to him, Kunta Kinteh Roots Camp has never been threatening nor close by the Minister of Tourism Hamat N.K Bah.
His reaction comes barely ten days after the visit of Tourism and Culture Minister, Hamat N.K Bah, who was on nationwide tour to assess the state of tourism and heritage facilities across the country.
Though Minister Bah said his ministry will not compromise with any Guesthouse, Lodges and Camps that are not up to standard in the country.
“The Minister himself and all his delegations slept at my lodge and were very happy to the best of my knowledge,” Kunta Kinteh Eco-Lodge Proprietor disclosed.
He revealed that tourism officials on visit with the Minister can attest to the significant development registered by the facility in recent time, noting that his facility has met all the set standards and recommendations of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
“Am very surprised to hear of the closure of my camp by the Minister of Tourism and Culture on both the online and offline newspapers.
“This is not true, we are not issue any notice of closure from any tourism authorities in the country,” owner of Kunta Kinteh Roots Camp affirmed.
He added: “We are very surprised to learn of our closure through the media and we thought that this is very unfair on our part because it is our Camp that hosted the Minister and his delegations when they visited Juffureh 14th November, 2020.
