GAP Spokesman Says Nams Shouldn’t Be Given A Loan Scheme

By Binta Jaiteh

Spokesman of Gambia Action Party has said the proposed 54-million-dalasi should be turned down by authorities citing the proposed time is not ideal because the nation’s economic is struggling.

In a Voice interview, Sheikh Faal said: “as far as he is concern every Gambian needs a privileged but the time and manner in which it is done is where he took a stand a budget that that has a lot of deficit and we are in an era of corona virus pandemic and our economy is very poor bringing this kind of issues worries me.”

According to him, there are a lot of issues that should be dealt with rather at the moment rather than requesting for huge amount of 54 million dalasi from our economy just for personal ambition.

“The 54 million dalasi to the MPs is like we having issues in the way we refund them adding that it is unfortunate to still have MPs like Yakumba Jaiteh a nominated member who goes around doing unnecessary issues that are not in line with our laws and such issues are not expected from them, they should be good leaders for people to admire but they are the ones breaching the laws as lawmakers of the country.

‘’Basically, the time and manner in which the issue to mentioned is not appropriate, we condemn it but let’s look at time factor by next year most of them will not be there and how sure are we to agree to this loan,” he added.

This is unprofessional and unexpected from our lawmakers, we should speak our minds let them hear our voice because we not happy with the loan, despite that some members did not agree with the loan, he said.

He continued: “Farmers are suffering a lot when the Covid19  breaks they should be the ones crying for help for loan to be granted why our MPs, youths comprise 65% of the population, the youths are unemployed, frustrated and devastated.”
