Fund to Sex Workers: It Is Not True, Honorable Sillah Dismisses Report

Regarding circulated news that the government has given Covid-19 fund to commercial sex workers as part of economic hardship package amid coronavirus pandemic, Honorable Ebrima Sillah, Minister of Information and Communication has dismissed such news and report.

Speaking at NPP political rally held on Saturday at Brufut, Honorable Sillah said “there is this rumor circulating these days and want to clarify that as I am the Minister of Information because this past Friday some Imam preached over the issue.”

“We want to make it clear to every Gambia that the news that government has given money to sex worker is not true. The government doesn’t have the money or covid-19 fund to give to sex workers.

“I want to inform the entire Imams that this rumor is not true and we will have meeting with such media house to make this clear to the Gambia people,” he said.

Land conflict in Kombo

On land conflict in Kombo he said both the governor and the deputy are in discussion with community elders to find solution to the land problem.

He noted that since the present government came into power, any land needed by government is always goes with compensation. He disclosed that the Minister of Finance has approved already D83, 000, 00 to the Jambury community, a place identified by NAWEC to build solar panels.

He however urged all Gambians to register to have a voter’s card and cast their vote “if you are real supporters of NPP as presidential election is on pipeline.”
