Officials from the Ministry of Health led by the director of public health services and principal health officer for Western One and other senior officials on Monday ordered the closure of three restaurants in the KMC for not observing COVID-19 guidelines and precaution.
The delegation led by Dr. Buba Manjang director of public health services and Musa Camara principal health officer for Western One and other senior officials began the day’s inspection at the busy West Field area.
One of the busiest restaurants in the bustling commercial zone is, Fast Ali and it was closed along with three other restaurants by officials for not observing rules and public health standards.
The proprietor of the restaurant, however reacted in furious emotion criticizing the decision by officials as a targeted to hunt and vendetta against his business.
Meanwhile, officials stated they are working within the guidelines and regulations for restaurant operations gyms and fitness centres as part of COVID preventive measures, stressing that most restaurants are not abiding by the rules.
“The general lack of adherence to preventive measures has compelled health and public safety officials to embark on an assessment and inspection tour of public places in the Metropolis where eateries in busy spots are being closely watched to avoid a second wave,” officials pointed out.
The officials announced that they will continue the inspection in the coming days in schools and other public places to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 measures and regulations as they move to avoid a second wave of the virus in the country.
