The 1985 class of St. George’s Secondary Technical School Basse, ex-students in the Gambia and diaspora has constructed a house for their members aimed to support needy colleagues of the class.
The ex-student association values the welfare of members to help change social and economic status and bridge economic gaps. The association set a taskforce committee to oversee the execution of project to ensure transparency and accountability of resources
Ebrima Darbo and Karunka Kuyateh of the Taskforce members described the support as humanitarian, to respond to the growing need of members, saying it was a brainchild of Awa Cham an Ex students and since then the members attracted 1985 class at home and abroad to provide support members and contribute to educational development of people.
The construction of two bedrooms and parlor for one of their members with a family of 6 and is historic. The construction work is in progress at Basse Kaba Kama in Upper River Region. Awa Cham the brain child on the formation of Ex Students Association of 1985 class of St. George’s Secondary Technical School in the diaspora and the Gambia.
The association aim to foster closer collaboration and support educational development for student of former school and community work.
The beneficiary members commended the association for the support, noting that construction of 2 bedrooms, store and parlor would contribute immensely in addressing housing needs of the family.
