The National Environment Agency through United Nations Development Program (UNDP) funding has donated some Covid-19 materials to the Kanifing Municipal Council, Banjul City Council and Brikama Area Council on Wednesday, 16th December, 2020.
Donated items included thermometers, hand sanitizers, automatic dispensers, chlorine bleach, disinfectants, Dettol, facemasks and other personal protection equipment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dodou Trawally, executive director of National Environment agency commended UNDP for the donation and described them as one of their major partners in supporting projects.
“In this particular case, UNDP has provided materials for area councils to fight against COVID-19,” he said.
He said the items came at a time it is most needed and it will enhance the effort of the councils in fighting covid-19 in their various communities.
“The virus is here to stay, it is gaining ground again, and we expect that when these things are delivered to you, you will take good care of them,” he noted.
He again commended UNDP for their endless efforts in supporting The Gambia in the fight against the pandemic.
The beneficiary councils’ officials expressed gratitude, saying the equipment will go a long way in fighting the pandemic as they promised to take good care of them as maintenance requires.
