TRRC Lead Counsel brands Facebook post toxic

The Lead Counsel of the Truth Reconciliation and Reparation Commission (TRRC) has furiously reacted to some posts in Facebook, as languages using by some of the users are nothing but toxic languages that he advised users against to avoid dividing the nation.

Essa Faal said: “I am very disappointed by the post and also disappointed by the fact that the languages used in (it) is a language we should not use to address one another.”

“This kind of language is toxic and is not suitable for our national discuss, the whole essence of the TRRC is to bring people together and not to divide and separate us and we should tolerate each other’s differences. And I hope this Commission would no longer have any cause to address any post that relate to the TRRC,” he added.

He said the post mentioned that Lt General Lang Tombong Tamba and his parents in a very bad light, adding that the author included him (Lead Counsel) and family in the same post.

“I cannot read the post because it does not contain appropriate languages. I am also disappointed that my name and my family name has been included in the post, it is much unfortunate this time. What we need as a people is to try to heal the wounds of the past and try to reconcile,” he said.

He continued that “we are all one and the same people, we are just doing this exercise to find out the mistakes that happened in the past with a view to solve those problems for the future. We are not here to castigate one another; we are not here to call one another names that do not help the national discuss.”

He said TRRC will always condemn this kind of behavior, what will help the work of the TRRC is to call for reconciliation, call for truth and call for unity among all.
