UN Resident Coordinator in The Gambia, Seraphine Wakana, has said that the United Nations Common Country Analysis (CCA) on Gambia has been anchored on an all-inclusive and encompassing process.
She said that the exercise was guided by the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) and CCA task force composed of UN agencies and government of The Gambia.
Wakana made the statement on Thursday at the validation exercise of the UN Common Country Analysis.
The CCA report provides an overview of the country context, especially as it relates to the current state of progress of the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). It focuses mainly on vulnerable populations particularly those at risk of being left behind.
According to Wakana, the report also pursued multi-dimensional risks analysis, a root-cause analysis as well as cross-border and regional dynamics. The report concluded with an overview of the SDG financing landscape and discussions on the gaps and challenges impeding the attainment of the 2030 Agenda.
According to the UN Gambia Chief, the vision for country is to pursue actions to eradicate poverty in all forms through higher levels of decent employment, preserved ecological balance and support strong and stable governance system.
