The Gambian Minister of Tourism and Culture has claimed that most of the successful world presidents were senior secondary school leaving certificates holders while assuring the populace that President Adama Barrow has the potentials to develop the country.
Though he didn’t go further to substantiate his claims, but according to him, one of the Brazil’s ex-presidents -Lula who he said was a shoe shiner boy was successfullly uplifted 40 million Brazilians from poverty.
Speaking at the ongoing presidential meet the people’s tour in Wassu, he said “President Barrow will uplift this country from poverty to the richest country.”
He advised Gambians to embrace peace and unity as he said the nation’s strength lies on stability, economic development and national unity.
In his words “I will tell you one thing (and that’s) the strength of The Gambia and its sovereignty lies on three things. Number one is stability, number two is economic development and number three is national unity.”
He therefore urged Gambians to desist from politics of insult saying “let’s stop insulting each other. Politics of insults will not develop this country. Extreme poverty can never make us progress.
According to him, politics means ‘act of what is possible’ adding “what is possible for the Gambia today is national cohesion and unity.”
He reiterated that it is time to work and develop this country, by that he advised Gambians to let reduce talks and stop insulting.
