Fatoumatta Sandeng, daughter of the slain politician, Solo Sandeng has sent a warning message to former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh that they will fish him out like they fish rats out in their holes.
Ms Sandeng, 26, was testifying before TRRC through virtual at her based in Germany and she vowed they will not relent in bringing Jammeh to justice.
“Just to say in the hole that you [Yahya Jammeh] are hiding in, we will fish you out like we fished out that rat, we will not relent,” she said.
She said her movement dubbed as Sandeng Foundation would need more political will and victims’ unity to fast track the bringing of Jammeh to justice.
She however lamented that “I know it is going to be hard knowing that the rejection of this draft constitution [but] and it will be hard under this constitution [1997] to do our jobs. But we will make it.”
We vowed to bring him and his associates to justice for the crimes they meted on to innocent people, she said.
Former president Yahya Jammeh is now living in Equatorial Guinea after ruling The Gambia for 22 years. He got to power through a bloodless coup that ends the 30 years rule of first Gambian leader Sir Dawda Jawara.
But Mr Jammeh’s rule had been characterised by gross human rights violations like torture, disappearance without trace and arbitrary arrests.
