The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has advised friendly distance learning in schools to compliment lost contact hours as schools reopened for second term.
The nation’s education has been affected since the outbreak of coronavirus in the country last year March which prompted immediate shutdown of schools to help curb the spread of the virus. Although the Ministry introduced electronic learning methods for students to help them recover physical contact hours.
“As schools across the country reopened for the second term of the 2020/ 2021 academic year, it is important to note that the world’s Education systems have already been hit hard and severely affected by the COVID-19 and The Gambia has not been speared,” the Ministry affirmed.
“However, as a Ministry, we are swiftly responding to the challenges by continuously developing friendly distance learning resources across all levels to compliment lost contact hours. We sincerely thank all our hard working Teachers and Education Officers. And we respectfully urge you all to continue the strict enforcement of the COVID-19 regulations in schools (such) as temperature checking, wearing of facemask, physical distancing, frequent washing of hands,” the statement added.
