Gambian minister of Tourism and Culture has told a rally in Banjul that President Adama Barrow has similar political system with Senegalese President Macky Sall and Kenyan leader Uhuru Kenyatta.
He made this statement at the end of President Barrow’s 30 days meet-the-people-tour meeting in capital city.
“I told you he Uhuru Kenyatta and Macky Sall have the same system of politics. When Uhuru Kenyatta started the fast rail from Nairobi to other cities, he spent over 8 billion dollars – [and] World Bank said the project cannot proceed. They condemn the project but he said he will complete the project. Today the benefit of that project in Africa there no project that has it,” he said.
“The roads in Banjul today when President Barrow started it – World Bank and IMF said it cannot go ahead. They said Gambia government cannot pay for that project and that the project shouldn’t go ahead. He [Barrow] told them the project will go ahead no matter what happen: ‘I will do it in Banjul. And Word Bank came to him and you have seen where the project is today,” he added.
He urged Gambians to desist from politics of insults saying “politics of insults ended under the government of President Barrow. Is politics of ideas, vision and development that he has brought to the country and that’s what the Gambians have been yearning for.”
He continued: “You cannot imagine 52 years Gambians don’t have a clean water to drink -you cannot imagine for 52 independence pregnancy become a condition of life and death but President Barrow has emerged from nowhere in this World to come and make a stop to that.”
He said people should allow President Barrow to do his work, adding because he loves to develop the country to the expectation of nation’s people.
