MAJJ Foundation in partnership with Focus Project-UK has donated school learning materials to Kerr Jarga Lowe Basic School and Kuntair Upper and Senior Schools, in Jokadu.
The donated materials worth of D160,000 is meant to help boost academic performance of students in the district.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, Governor of North Bank Region, Lamin Saidykhan underscored government commitment towards education of the children.
He commended the foundation for its commitment to educational development, noting that education contributes to national development.
The Governor reiterated on the need for parents to support the education of their children.
“The reading materials donated for the library would impact effectively on academic performance of the children,” he said.
Adama Jimba Jobe, DPS at MoBSE said: “the presentation of the learning materials has complemented Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in strengthening quality education.”
He noted that education and health are key area to the foundation as he revealed that plan are in advance gear to rollout more development projects in the community.
Alhaji Ousman Jobe Chairman MAJJ Foundation called on the residents of Kerr Jarga Jobe to be steadfast in complementing government efforts in providing development to the peoples.
“The support would improve learning and teaching to attain quality education and thank you the management of Kerr Jarga Jobe Lower Basic School for your commitment to academic performance of the children in your schools,” he said.
Former chief Jim Fatma Jobe of Jokadou reiterated the need for proper handling of donated materials to the beneficiaries while he launched an appeal for a standard borehole, fence for the school.
Yam Gaye, a mother club representative, said the donation would impact on educational development and noted that mothers club support fund raising through skill development to respond to the development of education.
Abdou Jobe, a head teacher at Kerr Jarga Jobe Lower Basic School commended MAJJ FOUNDATION for the support and noted that the reading materials would strengthen the operation of the school library and inculcate reading habits among students.
