The Gambian leader Adama Barrow has been strongly advised to provide a maximum security to chiefs of the country to render protection to them during presiding over tribunal trials.

Speaking at a political gathering in Sanyang, Abubacarr Giteh who doubles as the towns Imam told President Barrow that chiefs need to be provided with a maximum security, citing behaviour of people toward the chiefs during trials position them at risk.

President “Adama Barrow, chiefs are not secured because the way people react to chiefs during trials is not telling well because people take tribunal trials as a child play. If not, it is not safe,” he told President Barrow.

“Empower the chiefs with more powers because this land issue continues to triggered people to injure and kill each other,” he said.

He continued: “Those disputing parties should be given the Qur’an to swear because anyone who dares to swear with the Qur’an twice and lies will see the repercussion.”

Meanwhile, he urged President Barrow to help address the increase in car accidents in the country, saying Gambians continue to die in car accidents on a daily basis with no solution.

He suggested that “if anyone’s car kills anyone, that person’s driving license should be taken from him and he should never be allowed to drive in this country again.”

Imam Snayang Abubacarr Giteh however appealed to President Barrow to help them renovate their mosque and help the community with feeder roads to smoothen transportation.
