The Gambia Ports Authority has signed an Inter Port Cooperation Agreement with the Administracao Dos Portos Da Guine – Bissau (APGB).
The agreement seeks to strengthen and consolidate mutual cooperation in the areas of training of operational staff, technical assistance, cultural exchanges and joint partnership in Port and shipping related operations.
“As part of efforts to foster cooperation with the Port of Bissau, the Management of Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) has, Wednesday, 20th January, 2021 signed an Inter Port Cooperation Agreement with the Administracao Dos Portos Da Guine – Bissau (APGB) in Banjul,” GPA said in a statement.
The official signing-in ceremony preceded the recent reciprocal visits of the two Heads of State of the Republic of The Gambia and of the Guinea Bissau.
“The parties resolved to revitalise coastal shipping to enhance trade facilitation among countries in the sub-region. Another key area discussed during the visit relates to the request for assistance in dredging operations at the Port of Bissau. The six-member delegation of the APGB led by its Director General, Felix Bulutna Nandunge was in Banjul on Monday 20th January, 2021 for a three-day working visit.
