Covid-19: 20 People test positive

The Ministry of Health in its latest situational reports has disclosed that new twenty people have tested positive of coronavirus. This was disclosed over the weekend and it brings the country total number of cases recorded since March of last year to 3,958.

“12 new cases registered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 3,950. The median age of the new cases (6 female and 6 male) is 55.5 (range: 23 to 85 years). 7 out of the 12 cases did the test on account of being intending travellers who needed COVID-19 test certificates 347 new laboratory test results received (29 from MRC and 318 from NPHL of these, 12 new samples tested positive, representing a 3.5% test positivity rate.”

“No new tests returned indeterminate While 8 high-risk contacts (of recently confirmed cases) have been identified and their follow-up began in earnest, the follow-up for 20 has just been completed.”

The Saturday updated report indicated that: “8 new cases registered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 3,958. The median age of the new cases (3 female and 5 male) is 28 (range: 17 to 54 years) 5 out of the 8 cases sought to be tested on account of being intending travellers who needed COVID-19 test certificates.

“The remaining 3 did the test by virtue of being sick with flu-like symptoms 211 new laboratory test results received from NPHL.  Of these, 8 new samples tested positive, representing 3.8% test positivity rate. No new tests returned indeterminate,” the report added.
