The Kanifing Municipal Council has been donated with fifty thousand [50,000] cloths of facemasks in a bid to support the council’s efforts in the fight against coronavirus – as the nation hit continue to battle the virus amid what looks like a second wave.
The donation was made by a UK-based Gambian charity organization-Ida Bass Kidney Foundation – that has had recently given out millions of facemasks cloths as well as sanitary materials and water buckets across the country – one of which included the ministry of health.
The charity has been famously known for its kidney support – that began years back.
“Ida Bass Kidney Foundation, a UK-based charitable organization, donated 50,000 face masks to the Kanifing Municipal Council. The presentation ceremony took place at the Central Medical Stores at Kotu.
The gift was received by the Deputy CEO, Kajali Janneh, on behalf of the Council.
“With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the Council intends to further distribute the face masks to the residents of the municipality through decentralized structures to ensure the protection of residents.
The Council sincerely thanks the Foundation for their genuine support,” Kanifing Municipal Council said.
