Dozens of students have been sponsored by a Germany-based Gambia school dubbed – Schools for Gambia Bisingen e.v – at a sum of 358,000 dalasis.
It aimed to support the less vulnerable children to continue with their education without any interruption.
Morro Jagne told The Voice exclusively: “the presentation of sponsorship package to 65 students worth D208,000 as payment of school dues and D150,000 as payment of uniforms to beneficiaries’ student at Fankoi Lower Basic School in Lower River Region from grade 1 to grade 9.”
He said the support is part of the development objectives of Schools for the Gambia Bisingen e.v. in Germany for their unflinching support to advancement of education and welfare of school children to effectively participate, adding School for the Gambia Bisingen e. V in Germany in 2020 provided 95 bags of rice of 25 kilos and 95 gallons of 5 litres of vegetable oil to 95 vulnerable families to mitigate COVID19 response in Kinteh Kunda Janneh Ya, Farafenni in North Bank Region and Fankoi in Lower River Region.
He commended sponsor and parents for their support and cooperation towards and assured of their unflinching support to the education sector, noting that it would complement parents’ efforts in providing uniforms and above all encourage them to support the education of needy children.
Famara Sanneh, head teacher of Fankoi Lower Basic School thanks the donor for their traditional support of providing much needed support to sponsored children’s.
He described the support as important, noting that uniforms and financial support would contribute immensely to enhance educational development of children.
He reassured on effective management support to sponsored children’s and reiterated the need for their parents to encourage them to read at home.
