The mutiny between the Supreme Islamic Council and a group of breakaway Imams and Islamic philosophers called   Majmuatou Rawdatul Majaalis continues despite Religious Minister’s effort to broker peace between the two Islamic organizations.

The members of the Rawdatul Majaalis that are the breakaway have renewed their support to their favorite Sheriff Muhammed Sanusey Nano Hydara during an annual general meeting held at Semega Janneh Hall on Thursday, 4th February, 2021.

Muhammed Lamin Yaffa, speaking on behalf of Rawdatul Majaalis, in detailed, explained the agenda of the meeting, which was about the Supreme Islamic Council failure to agree on term with officials of Rawdatul Majaalis.

“The Supreme Islamic Council is not democratic and they said they are here for all but since then no regular voting has taken place in the Council because they don’t want the Majaalis to have position in the Council,” he said.

Imam Yaffa continued that “People in the Council think that all the other set of Islamic organizations are ‘Bida’ and they are the only one following the ‘deen’ (religion),” he said.

Sheikh Abdoul Kadi Kandeh, second vice president of Majaalis also dilated on their reason for converge. He noted that “the reason why Majaalists are belittled in this country is because all their rights are taken from them and they are the People that brought “Deen” into this country. We the Majaalists are the people on the right path of the deen because we are operating according to what Allah said and the prophet (SAW)”, he pointed out.

Kantai Ceesay, official of the group said: “we will fight for the “Deen” to make sure that People follow the right path. People should fight for Islam and avoid Islam with politics. And Majaalis will forever move forward because it is based on the “Deen” of Allah and the prophet.”

The group said Supreme Islamic Council was established to follow the deen of the four fathers and the first leader in 1992 was Alagie Soriba Gassama, but in 1994 when former president Yahya Jammeh took over some scholars from Saudi came in together with the president and removed Soriba and replaced him with his own choice.
