Marina International School has suspended face-to-face lessons after four of its students were reported to have contracted coronavirus. Students will now take lesson on virtual until the situation is brought to normalcy.
Regional Director for Education, Ousman Bah said: “We have been monitoring the situation and on the 1st February, our cluster monitor who is posted to that school reported that the school, they told him that they have a suspected case but the child is admitted at the Ndemban clinic but they are going to confirm if it is Covid-19. And yesterday in the evening I was called and informed that it was Covid-19 but the child has not been coming to school according to them since the 22nd of January and he has a sibling attending the school and when they have the suspected case, they stopped the child from coming to school, so that he can isolate.”
“Today they informed us in total that they have four students who have been found positive of coronavirus from the same class. Their board met today and the decision they have taken is to close the school and they are going to close for fourteen days and they are going to make sure that all the teachers and students are tested and they are going to have virtual class now,” he added.
