The Gambia Ports Authority has officially opened an Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Bond Road, Banjul, aimed at reducing congestion at the port, increase the ships turnaround time for improved productivity and efficiency.
The new facility is expected to boost economic activity, strengthen the confidence of our esteemed customers and give the Port of Banjul a competitive edge.
The over twenty-six thousand square meters land space is envisaged to decongest the port as it is designated to store and handle export/transit cargoes in a large scale.
“Certainly, this significant move is one of the sustained efforts deployed by the GPA Management to decongest the Port and maximize outputs. The ceremony was witnessed by the Managing Director of GPA and the Commissioner General of GRA along with top officials from the two institutions,” GPA authorities said.
