The on-going art exhibition taking place at National Centre for Arts and Culture is open at 8am daily and entrance is free but with full observation of social distancing, uses of facemasks and as well use of hands sanitizer.
Ebrima Gitteh who is well specialized on portrait and realistic arts had his first international art exhibition called Painting for Charity in 2019 and The Cotton Trail Art in 2020 and the ongoing ‘Empower Breast Feeding.’
Among his acrylic on canvas works displayed at the on-going exhibition include Chofel, Affection, The Throne, Motherly Bond, Mansa Mouso, and Breast Feeding.
Ebrima Gitteh who started his full time art career in 2017 said he chose Empower Breast Feeding as theme for his 2021 Art Exhibition through the feelings he derived when he painted a woman breastfeeding her child.
According to him “when I was painting the woman breastfeeding her child, I was feeling the connection between the woman and the child, I felt the love between them, so I decided to do more on it to sensitise the public on the importance of child breastfeeding.”
Breastfeeding, Gitteh said “according to World Health Organization (WHO), breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival. However, nearly 2 out of 3 infants are not exclusively breastfed for the recommended 6 months – a rate that has not improved in 2 decades.”
He added among other benefit of breastfeeding that it promotes bonding and development, women who breastfeed have lower rates of breast cancer, provides superior nutrition for optimum growth, protects against infection and allergies, provides adequate water for hydration.
Ebrima Gitteh thanked the sponsors NaNA and NCAC for making it possible and as well extended appreciations to different people both from NCAC and NaNA for their assistance and guidance.
