The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smart Business Group (SBG) has urged the government of The Gambia to always consider and give high priorities to local contractors rather than the foreign based, as local contractors and companies are contributing immensely towards nation building.
Mr. Omar Njie, a Gambian businessman made this called in an interview with journalists recently in his office situated along Kairaba Avenue.
CEO Njie said “local companies will make money in the country and re invest in the country, while foreign based contractors normally come to the country to make money and later go back to their respectively countries without paying taxes.”
He noted that foreign investors are “given all opportunities, while local based companies find it difficult to survive. I am quite sure that if Gambians companies are given the same opportunities they will excel.”
“We have seen some foreigners who will come to the country with their company just to make money and leave. They will not pay taxes they will not even pay the procurement certificate to the country, while local based contractors and companies are paying for the certificate every year,” Njie disclosed.
Mr. Njie who has been in Europe for years said he came back to the country with a view to develop his own business company in order to contribute his quota to nation building, by providing job opportunities through his companies.
In brief he said the objective of Smart Business Group is to do general procurement of goods and services and as well as create job opportunities for Gambian youths among others. He added that SBG is into a lot of businesses which include consultancy firm, engineering and procurement of goods and services.
He however spoke extensively about his company credibility in providing goods and services to the general public or government and the company has been operating for a while but had never been found wanting .
