Retired Capt. Yankuba Touray, a member of the defunct Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council (AFPRC) finally continues his evidence-in-chief after the dismissal of his constitutional immunity clause by the Supreme Court for lack of merit.
Testifying before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh, Touray adduced that he was informed by the former secretary to the cabinet, Tamsir Mbaye about the death of his cabinet colleague.
Asked whether he was ever accompanied to the State House by Ensa Mendy, he replied in the positive noting that his bodyguard usually escorts him on Tuesday and Thursday when they have council and cabinet meetings that happen in the morning or afternoon.
Reacting to the evidence of Lamin Ndure one of his drivers, the embattled former junta member told the High Court that he was never driven by Mr Ndure to a cabinet meeting saying his office and the meeting ground was only a working distance.
“I was not accompanied by Ensa Mendy and Lamin Ndure the day the chairman was travelling, i did not block ‘Koro’ Ceesay’s car at the airport,” touray clarified saying he never invited Pa Habib Mbaye to his house and he didn’t know Mr Mbaye until he came to testify as a prosecution witness in the case.
When reminded by his lawyer about the charges alleging his involvement in the murder of Ousman ‘Koro’ceesay, Touray contended that he has never sat with Alagie Kanyi, Edward Singhatey and Peter Singhatey to discuss the killing of anyone or Ousman ‘Koro’ceesay.
He denied ever going to Mr Kanyi’s house or inviting Kanyi to his residents at Cape Point and Kerr Sering.
He denied any contact with Mr Kanyi before his testimony in the trial.
The Case Was Subsequently Adjourned To February 25th for continuation of Tourays defence.
