The Gambia Nurses and Midwives Council (GNMC) has revoked its provisional accreditation of nursing and midwifery license issued to the Legacy University.
The revocation of the license came after the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority (NAQAA) revealed that the University failed to meet the requirements to renew its license in the last quarter of 2020
Speaking in an interview with the Registrar of the Gambia Nurses and Midwifery Council at his Banjul office, Mafugi Bojang said Legacy University provisional accreditation for the Nursing Programs has been nullified with immediate effect.
“From now onwards, the University Nursing Programs should not recruit or train and no health facility either public or private should allow any (of the) student in their premises for practical, clinical and placement until they (Legacy University) fully meet the requirement.”
“Securing institutional accreditation license from NAQAA is a prerequisite for getting nursing and midwifery related programs accredited by GNMC,” he said.
