Child Fund office in The Gambia in partnership with Ministry of Women and Children will celebrate this year’s International Children’s Day of Broadcasting in low style in the country due to coronavirus pandemic.

As disclosed the theme for this year celebration is ‘United to Reverse the Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on the Children.’

Speaking at a news conference held at Child Fund’s office in Kanifing, Musu Kuta Komma-Bah, the Country Director, expressed that the event will give space to the children to showcase their talents through the media.

Fanta Badjie from the Ministry of Women and Children commended Child Fund for their supports and attention to the children to amplify their voices, as about 90% of Gambians access radio.
“Our Ministry is one of the youngest but spare-heading all issues of children and the Honourable Minister is ready to listen to the children at all times,” she said.

Aja Mansata Badjie, president of the Voice of The Young, said the event is very important to the children because this is where their problems will be expressed and solutions will be taken towards it.

The international broadcasting was created by UNICEF in 1991 to encourage broadcasters around the world to create awareness on issues affecting the children.
