GRA, BoD visit 2 Depots in Mandinary

The Board of directors and top Management of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has recently paid a courtesy visit to Gam Petroleum and the under-construction Castle depot called General Petroleum Service (GPS) owned by a Gambian private company in Mandinary.

Recently paid a courtesy called on the General Manager of Gam Petroleum Depot in Mandinary Mr. SaikouDrammeh and alongside with the management of newly un-complete construction castle depot called General petroleum Service (GPS) owned by a Gambian private company.

The size of the newly undergoing construction depot is estimated to be 68,000 squares meter and owned by Gambian couple – Hassid and Maja Massry.

The new depot is expected to be completed before the end of this year and is expected to employ (50%) percent of Gambians, with full training for the staff to ensure effective and safety operation at the depot.

The delegation to the depots was headed by the GRA board chairperson and accompanied by top brass of the said Authority, and the courtesy call was part of the GRA board of directors and top management second field visit to the various regional offices across the country.

Speaking during the courtesy call, Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General of GRA expressed appreciation on the level of work in progress at the said site, while assured them of the GRA support towards the realization of the project.

He informed them of GRA mission to the depot which is to see and assess the level of the progress of the project in the site, Mandinary.

According to the Commissioner General, he said GRA attached great importance to the new depot project which will equally add value to its revenue when completed.  He said GRA continue to cherish this kind of depot and surely it will help the country in its quest to generate more revenue for the country when it start operation in the soonest time.

He emphasised the need of more of this kind of investment in the country and “with this country is ready for enough supply as well as re-export trade to other countries.

He prayed for the speedy completion of the project so that it will start operation in earnest. Also, he acknowledged the effort of the owners particularly the CEO and his wife for the wonderful job that they are doing in the country.

For her Part, the Board chairperson expressed delight and commended those behind the project saying the project is welcome in The Gambia as it is more activity more revenue for the country. “We really like to support you to finish this project,” she expressed.

Madam Maja Massry the brain behind this project assured that the project is going to be a model depot in the country when it complete and it will help to increase revenue for the development of the country.

One of the depot’s primary objectives and duty is to ensure effective and safety standard of the storage facility, she said.
