Kaur custom lacks mobility

Custom officials at Kaur station have said their challenge is the lacks of transportation for patrol, as the area is inundated with dozens of illegal border routes between The Gambia and Senegal.

They shrilled out their complaints while meeting with the lawmaker’s committee on trade and regional integration who are on a nationwide tour.

Foday Ceesay, an official of Kaur custom said “the problem they are encountering is the border because there a lot of entry points to Kaur. We are lacking mobility – motorbikes, vehicles for patrol or to mount the borders. But for the goods coming in we normally take care of them.”

He said the villagers also are playing important role in making sure that when a vehicle is coming they do contact them.

According to him, they always borrow motorbikes when they are going on for a border patrol.

The committee also visited Wassu post while Kekuta Jarra, a cadet guard as well informed the committee members about their constraints, too.
