Peace Hub the Gambia Youth Voice unveil Barhama, one of the Gambia’s finest artiste cum activist as official ‘Good Will Ambassador’
Peace Hub the Gambia is a peace-building initiative that empower and promote the participation of young people and women in peacebuilding process.
Mr. Bakary Sonko, program coordinator and co-founder of Peace Hub The Gambia told journalists during unveiling Barhama Cham as official ambassador for Peace Hub the Gambia, adding up, Barhama is known in the field of advocating peace and have been using his voice, platforms and influence to this worthy cause.
Speaking to the event, the golden voice musician, Barhama express his sincere appreciation to Peace Hub the Gambia for their confidence and collaboration and also described this as one the joyous day of his life seeing the beginning of something he have been preparing for.
He added: “Anytime you see me am smiling and laughing and often people do ask me ‘why do you smile a lot?’ I will always reply ‘the inside is always what manifest itself out, because deep inside am this peaceful guy and that peace inside me is what I always want to attract people into’ and thanks to God it’s been recognized today and am about to engage on a journey to advocate peace and to make sure that is something celebrated by everybody”
He explained that the society he came from is full of nice people and his parents been one of the people preaching peace to him since he was a teenager, at old age he realized peace is fundamental and should be everyone’s concern.
“On that basics we should preach, sing and write about peace. The world is a beautiful place and there is two things we have, that is whether to add values to the beautiful things we have already seen or to be agents of destructions and I don’t think that is the our purpose,” he said.
As young people we are always the victims of violence and also the bitterness of peace on that reality am embarking on this journey with Peace Hub Gambia and other young people to see that the purpose is served.
Music and entertainment is what I do but there is more to it as people see, educating the people about peace and the importance of preserving it should also be our obligation as a service to humanity,
He assured to encourage his fellow music to join this great initiative.
