Kanifing Municipal Council has started transforming the Buffer Zone as a functional recreational park, as it installed 120 solar street lights, planted 134 trees and rehabilitated the public toilet and change rooms as a start towards that effort.
“I have also instructed the process of re-erecting the short perimeter wall and the installation of a borehole to ensure water is available for users of the park.
“I have pledged to also rehabilitate the goal posts and install nets for the players. I thank the Department of Planning their Director Nyima Camara for their effort, The WDC of Talinding and their Cllr Karamo Ceesay for volunteering to maintain the trees and toilet. Most especially I want to Thank KMC Park Attendant Salif Kujabi, a dedicated planning staff who has tirelessly contributed to the sustainability of our tree projects including this one,” Mayor Ahmed Talib Bensouda said in a statement.
