Lamin Kaba Bajo, who was the foreign minister of The Gambia in 2005, has accepted signing a false letter written to his Ghanaian counterpart, Nana Akufo Addo, now Ghana’s president, about the killing of West African migrants, as he appeared before the TRRC for the second time.
In the letter, Mr Bajo, who is now the president of Gambia Football Federation, admitted at the time telling him his citizens were only cautioned and released on humanitarian ground.
“I will just repeat, I felt very bad, very bitter,” he told the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission on Thursday through a virtual testimony.
“Before I let you go Mr Bajo, was this issue ever discussed in cabinet while you are there,” TRRC chief counsel Essa Faal asked as he wrapped up questioning with GFF boss.
“Never in my presence,” Mr Bajo also an ex-army captain replied in shrill.
Counsel Faal again questioned him “do you regret your action that you have signed this letter?’
Kaba Bajo answered: “State counsel, I will repeat that millions of times. I don’t know the word I can use to express my regret about that…”
