APRC urges government to nvestigate Sanyang incident

Opposition APRC has joined other parties in calls to  President Barrow administration to investigate last week’violent incident in Kombo Sanyang that saw the police station and the Mauritanian-owned fishmeal plant set ablaze by angry mobs, following the brutal killing of Gibril Ceesay.

APRC in a statement called on the government to “immediately investigate and resolve the circumstances that led to this incident as well as assure the natives of Sanyang and all Gambians a tranquil and safe day-to-day livelihood” and recommended the government to “compensate the family of the deceased and any other victim.”

“In as much as we share a cordial relationship with our neighbors, bilateral agreements and mutual cooperation with other countries, our sovereignty and dignity must be respected as an independent nation. The interest and protection of the citizenry must be guarded jealously at all times,” the statement added.

“We sympathize with the people of Sanyang on this irreplaceable loss of live and properties damaged. In the circumstance, the party deplores and is worried with the insecurity of most communities within the country.”

“We pray that Allah SWT prevents a reoccurrence of this type of incidence and grant the departed soul Jannatul Firda’us. We further pray that Allah SWNT grants the family of the decease.”
