MP Mbowe & KM mayor receive Covid Jab

Lawmaker for Upper Saloum constituency and the Kanifing Municipal Council’s mayor have joined the ministry of health in call on the public to go get their coronavirus jab amid growing worries around the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Gambia has received 36,000 doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca through World Health Organisation, which is 20% of the nation will be immunised. President Adama Barrow and state ministers had their jab earlier this month, as he launched national coronavirus immunisation campaign.

“Dear All, I have just taken my jab this morning and I encourage everyone to do so when you have the opportunity. Covid is real and we have to fight it on all fronts,” Alahgie Mbowe said few minutes after receiving his jab.

Meanwhile, KM Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda, TAB, has said he has been inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

“Today I lead the KMC in vaccinations by taking the first dose of the Oxford, AstraZeneca Vaccine.

“I want to thank the Ministry of Health officials who administered the vaccine for their diligence and patience in getting all out questions answered,” TAB said on his official Facebook page on Tuesday.
