The acting president of Gambia National Farmer Platform has appealed to the Agriculture Minister to always monitor the affairs and leadership of the national farmers’ platform to make sure that they go for the mandatory congress.

Amie Fabureh to Monitor the affairs and leadership of the National farmers platform and ensure that the Platform go into real congress.
Substantiating his reason for the appeal, Sanna Darboe said there are certain scrupulous individuals trying to overthrow him as the acting president to take the leadership of the platform without going through the right procedure as laid down by the constitution.
The acting president for the platform expressed his dismay during an interview with members of press recently in Banjulinding.
During this interview, he (Sanna Darboe) disclosed that there are serious betrayals among the members of the platform about who should take the mantle leadership of the Gambia National Farmers platform presidency.
But he however expressed dissatisfaction over behaviours of certain members of the platform saying in spite of his not interested in the presidency of the platform still, he promised, to do everything possible to ensure that the right channel is follow to have a new president for the platform in the interest of the Gambian farmers.
He went own that the platform is a legal that registered with the AG Chamber and it is here to represent “farmers across the length and breadth of the country.”
He explained that some of this unscrupulous members want new president to be elected but “they want it underground so they can chose who to run it at their own interest,” which he (Darboe) disapproved.
“I will not accept just few self-interest members to divide the platform, this platform belongs to all farmers in this country,” he added.
He emphasized and called on the Minister of Agriculture, Honorable Amie Fabureh to monitor the affairs and leadership of the National farmers platform and ensure that the Platform go into real congress, in addition to that “all members should be informed about the congress as it supposed to start at district to regional levels and follow by the national congress.”
Again, urged Minister of Agriculture and her Ministry to put mechanism in place to regulate the irregularities that the platform is facing. Noting “since the former president passed away, there is need for the whole members to be notified of readiness to replace or appoint new president for the platform, as or when need arise.”
Meanwhile, since former president of the platform, late Alagie Bass Mboge passed away there is no replacement and the position remains vacant, while Sanna Darboe selected as acting president.
