Gambian Philanthropist gives to Kiang Karantaba Health Center, Others

A Gambian-Denmark based philanthropist, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh native of Njaba Kunda, North Bank Region last week made series of donations to four Health Centers in the Lower and Central River Regions.

The beneficiary Health facilities were: Kiang Karantaba, Pakaliba, Brikamaba and Janjangbureh Health Centers. Each Health Center received a refrigerator and 28 inches flat screen.

The items were presented to the various by the donor Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh through Lamin B Darboe.

Mr Darboe told the health personnel that the donor, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh for the past 20 years focuses on offering help to health sector, Department of Prison Services, Home for Elderly camp at Bakoteh among other sectors.

He therefore appealed to recipients of the items to take good care of them to enable them receive more in future.

He added that the donor has interest of Gambia in his heart, reason for this gesture this is why he is doing this kind gesture.

Speaking at Kiang Karantaba Health Center handing over ceremony, OIC at the health center, Modou Lamin Jaiteh commended the donor, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh through Lamin B. Darboe for his timely gesture to the health center.

According to Mr. Jaiteh, Kiang Karantaba Health Center need more help as it is the only biggest Government Health Center within Kiang West and rest of the Kiang in general.

Jaiteh appealed to the donor, Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh and other Gambians outside the country more particularly the citizens of Kiang to come to the aid of the Health Center with medicaments.

“We are appreciative of the donation and we promised that the items will be put into good use and let me commend you (Lamin B. Darboe) for spearheading this historic donation in your own area,” Mr. Jaiteh promised.

Bambo Fatou Kambi a native of Kiang Karantaba on behalf of his community hailed the donor for his donation and he explained to the donor’s friend, who is a native of Kiang Jula-Kunda, Lamin B. Darboe that the entire villagers of his community welcomed the humanitarian gesture.

Officers-In-Charge Pakaliba and Brikamaba Health Centers, Buba Jobe and Ousainou Gomez both described the donation as timely and they assured to take proper care of the donated items.
