NFTR President Applauds GPPA, AfDB for steadfast support

The President of the Network of financial and Tax Reporters NFTR Gambia chapter has applauded the African Development Bank under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affair for the unflinching support in training over 30 journalists on the basic Principles of the Public Procurement Authority (GPPA).

Mr. Abdoulie Nyockeh words of appreciation came at the edge of the GPPA weeklong training for media personnel on the regulation of the GPPA.

Mr. Nyockeh divulged that building capacity of journalists is gear toward contributing to national development. He therefore returned gratitude to the African Development Bank for providing the funding to support and empowers media personnel to have requisite knowledge on the roles and mandates of the Gambia Public Procurement Act.

The objective of the training was to building the capacity of the media personnel particularly the members of the NFTR to better report on issues related to procurement.

He noted that members of NFTR valued the support, involvement and training on matters that are relevant to their work. “This is the reason we cherish the relationship with the African Development Bank through the Gambia Public Procurement Authority GPPA,” he said.

“I have no doubt, this forum has accord journalists in-depth knowledge on the legal instruments embedded on the GPPA regulation Act  and will help them report on issues affecting our business industry,” Mr. Nyockeh stated.

In extension, he commended   the Managing Director and staff of the Gambia Public Procurement Authority GPPA for empowering and supporting Journalists to understand the Principles of Public procurement Act and procedure in order to disseminate factual information on the subject matter.
