Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has been elected by members of the United Democratic Party as the flagbearer and presidential candidate, after contesting the position with four other senior members of the party.
“UDP Leader Lawyer Ousainu Darboe has emerged as the clear and unequivocal choice of the party’s selection committee as our candidate for the 2021 presidential elections.
“It’s time to roll our sleeves and ensure that every single one of our eligible supporters registers and votes for Lawyer Darboe to become the next President of the Republic of The Gambia. We are confident that he’s the best person to move the country out of its current quagmire and put us on the path to sustainable development in a climate of peace and justice,” the party said in a statement.
Meanwhile, other contestants included Abdou Darboe from Foni, he is currently the Deputy Regional Chairman of UDP and works at MRC, Ousainou Mboob is the KMC Regional Administrative Secretary, and Lamin J Darboe from Gunjur.
