Abdou Karim Jammeh, a victim of the April 10, 2000 students’ demonstration has criticized Gambian President Adama Barrow for recycling former President Yahya Jammeh’s leftover, ex- officials Gambians considered to have no place in government and society.

Mr Jammeh who was shot on his ankle during the 2000 student protest made this statement while responding to the statement made by Shiekh Omar Faye, Minister of Defense directed to the victims of the former regime.

Minister Faye made the statement to an online Gambian social media platform dubbed ‘For the people, by the people’ those victims of the former dictator Yahya Jammeh should ‘suck it up’ and move on with their lives.

“I’m not surprise that such a comment comes from Honorable Omar Faye simply because he was one of the enablers of Dictator Yahya Jammeh. To me, he is just trying to cover himself and all the criminals who were killing, torturing, and doing all types of bad things in The Gambia and to Gambians,” said Abdou Karim Jammeh, one of the April 10th victims.

He added: “My problem here is President Adama Barrow who is employing them thus empowering them to say or do anything to the Gambians. It was the victims and their relatives who fought against dictatorship and injustice in the country leading to the crumbling of Jammeh’s regime.”

He pointed out that President Barrow is the one insulting, disregarding and disrespecting victims of former President Yahya Jammeh, arguing that Shiekh Omar Faye, Seedy Njie, Mambureh Njie, Nuha Touray and all enablers of Jammeh among others are still serving in this government.

Abdou Karim Jammeh who recently returned home from treatment in Turkey said if President Barrow and his regime were very serious about the reforms the like of the Defense Minister would not have been working for the Gambian government. “If there was a proper reform in place all the enablers of Yahya Jammeh would not have been working for Barrow.

They would have been taken to court and prosecuted for their various crimes, talk less of appointing them,” Jammeh observed.

According to him, the Defense Minister has served the former dictator Yahya Jammeh at his pleasure as a Minister and as an Ambassador, arguing that it was only a matter of time that he shows his real colour to the Gambian people that he is not remorseful for all the wrongs their regime has committed in the country.

He alleged that the Defense Minister is still hunting for victims been part of ending the 22years dictatorship of Yahya Jammeh, adding that if his family member was a victim he wouldn’t make such an irresponsible statement to the victims of the tyrannical regime.

He therefore called on Minister Faye to apologise to the victims of the ex-president Yahya Jammeh’s regime and resign his position for recklessly insulting victims who are seeking justice after 22 years of waiting.
