Gambia gets new police chief

President Adama Barrow has appointed a new Inspector General of Police in the name of Abdoulie Sanyang. The newly appointed IGP is replacing his predecessor Mamour Jobe who died last month after suffering a short illness.

His appointment comes as Gambians questioned President Barrow of what he is causing delaying to appoint a new police chief, as rumoured shadowed around an appointment of a new police boss.

“The Police High Command wishes to inform the public that DIG Abdoulie Sanyang has been appointed as Inspector General of Police.
The entire management and staff of the GPF congratulates him on his appointment and pray for him to have a successful stay in office,” police said in a statement.
