The National Enterprise Development Initiative (NEDI) has rolled out a General Entrepreneurship Training for 34 youths and women of North Bank Region
The training funded by government of The Gambia through Ministry of Youths and Sports is currently underway in Kerewan, North Bank Region.
In his remarks, Governor Lamin Saidykhan of NBR underscored government commitment to youths and women development and empowerment to enable them acquire and develop themselves to attain position of sustainable employment creation.
The Governor said the government is doing all it can to provide support to youths, saying entrepreneurship is an engine of economic growth while he challenged youths to also use the skills and knowledge gain to create employment opportunities for others.
Buba Touray representing the General Manager of NEDI thanked the Regional Authorities for its support to NEDI and youths.
He said the training aimed to facilitate youth representative to have access to the grant and loans from partners.
He noted that the youth loan is revolving fund through Ministry of Finance and it aimed to help address access to finance for youths and women and create employment opportunities.
Mr Touray called on youths to be vigilant and proactive, as business training aimed to bring about positive behaviour changes.
Malamin IL Bojang Chairman of Kerewan Area Council thanked NEDI for providing training for the second cohorts of youths on entrepreneurship development for youths and women.
He noted that capacity development is crucial as it will ensure success, while assured that council would allocate canteens to youths to provide space to effective participation.
The chairman expressed dismay for Gambians being in the habit of hiring of canteens provided by Kerewan Area Council to foreigners.
EBRIMA Ceesay thanked NEDI for providing them the opportunity to be part of the learning group.
Alagie Busso Deputy Regional Chairman, Alasan Jawo Regional Youths and Sports Coordinator at NBR, Abdoukadir Daffeh Program Manager at NEDI among others delivered statements.
