The majority leader and national assembly member for Kombo South constituency, Kebba K. Barrow, has distributed foodstuff among his constituency wards included 30 25kg bags of rice and 15 50kg bags of sugar worth over D131, 750.00.
The donation saw a distribution of D5, 000 worth of cash power to 11 community central mosques of the district, supply of breakfast to patients and handing over of training jerseys to Gunjur united football club.
“We know how families suffered during the past years of the pandemic and this has also affected their income avenue. So, it is important such intervention is given to the less privilege families to assist ease their financial burden especially in the month of Ramadan. Today’s presentation is giving back to you as the electorates,” he said.
“The distribution of food items including receipts of cash power to community central mosques is geared towards limiting the burden of financial expenditure of families in the month of Ramadan,” he added.
He said that households especially the less privilege ones find it hard to cater the most needed financial expense of their families which he added needs an immediate intervention especially in the Holy month of Ramadan.
He said that the distribution of cash power to various central mosques within the district will also help communities in in performing their obligatory Ramadan prayers in comfort without electricity distraction due to cash power shortage.
“Muslims especially imams have a great duty in our mosques as people went in to perform their Ramadan obligatory prayers. We hope the donation of such amount of cash power receipt to sully electricity in our mosques will support in observing our nightly Ramadan prayers,” he said
Abubacarr Bojang, the Imam Ratib of Jambur in his statement thanked the area parliamentarian for the kind gesture stating that as God’s already promised to reward those who assist fellow Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that the supply of cash powers receipts to their various mosques will contribute greatly in reducing the periodic financial expenditure they take towards their mosque’s electricity bills.
“We are very much appreciative of the cash power distribution to our various mosques. This will no doubt help us as Imams to perform our nightly Ramadan prayers with sufficient cash power in place. God reward those who extend help in hand to his fellow Muslims during the blessed month of Ramadan,’’ he said.
