His death coincided with another gruesome death of a man who had been found killed and dumped in a bag around Brufut. Scores took to online to raise concerns about insecurity and rampant killings in the country.
“On Sunday 25th April 2021, it was discovered that the boy had drowned and the body was recovered from a pond around Berending village,” police spokesman Lamin Njie told The Voice amid widespread rumours around the death of the teen boy.
He said the police have opened “an investigation into the matter of the missing child and search conducted in collaboration with parents.”
Meanwhile, he urged community members, parents and care givers around the quarry where this pond is situated to be vigilant and employ due care by not allowing children to go swimming at the pond.
“The Police are working with family members for necessary actions in handling the situation. The cooperation and understanding of the public particularly residents of the area around the pond, is highly solicited,” he added.
